Week #2 Goals Update

The second week of 2022 has certainly had its ups and downs, and my goal work has reflected that. I did end up going back to work this week, but I was only able to manage two days in-person, although I was able to work the other three from home. My bout with COVID-19 is not quite over, despite the fact that I’ve been officially asymptomatic. It seems that my tendency toward extremely long recoveries from respiratory diseases is definitely still in place.
I also had a rather personally painful experience as a result of the online reactions to the very poorly reported comments by Pope Francis on January 5th. Fortunately, though, I was able to go to Adoration the day after it happened, and my experience there was much better than usual. It helped me work my way through it mentally and come to a resolution about my feelings and how I intend to react (or, more properly, not react).
There are also some significant wins in the goals work, too, even if they’re not as much as I’d hoped for. Today is a day I’m having to remind myself that sometimes, any win counts.
Writing
I only had five out of seven writing days this week, which is definitely putting my goal of 350 days in jeopardy. I noted, though, that the very fact I have the goal is pushing me to write more. Even if I miss my goal, I do think I’m going to end up increasing my writing output itself, which means that the goal is doing what it’s supposed to do.
The good news is that I did get posts up both at Radius and Second Row again.
Career/Education/Finances
This week I got $24 into the IRA instead of just $21, thanks to a small extra contribution I did when I realized that my save-daily-but-deposit-weekly setup was going to leave me just a hair short. Unfortunately, I did not get and continuing education done as I’d initially planned. I’m going to be pushing that up pretty high on the priority list now, as the CE is necessary for my license renewal in March and I have several hours that need to be done.
Fitness/Diet
I hit my goal involving sugary drinks again, which is good. I also lost the weight I’d gained the first week of the year, plus just a hair more. The Slim-Fast I’d ordered is now sitting at work waiting for me, but because I worked from home during the latter half of the week I’ve not had a chance to actually begin using it.
Will cooked lunch for me one of the days I worked from home, and it was quite healthy (steak and asparagus) so I counted that as one of the lunches for the year. I’m going to be rather low on those for January, so I need to make plans to make up for that over the rest of the year.
So, while not the best week, it certainly wasn’t a bad one and I’m still mostly on-track. That said, I do need to do what I can to get things moving better this week. The good news is that I’m feeling better enough that I think I actually can.
